Rumors

Note:  Items in red have been explored and/or stumbled upon in past adventures.
  1. A ruined city lies hidden in the mountains north of Frostwyk and it is inhabited by white apes who guard bricks of gold stamped with an unknown sigil.
  2. A demon prowls the streets of Ravensport after dark, feeding on petty criminals and prostitutes.
  3. Elven sailors near Olessus spotted a foreign ship flying a red flag with a gold, laurel-crowned king's head upon it.  The men on the ship were olive-skinned and dark-haired.  They sailed to the south before contact could be made.
  4. A child who fell into Rothslake and was presumed drowned was found wandering the shore a fortnight later.  She spoke in a strange tongue and carried an ancient brooch of elven-make.
  5. There is an island far to the north of Evanoria where the dead walk under a permanent night sky.  The entrance to the world of life-beyond-death lies at its heart.
  6. A pack of werewolves prowls the forests north of Brigands' Isle.
  7. A weird black tower has been raised on the far western shore of Evenoria... it may be a temple to Typhus.
  8. The dwarves of Angrenskeep have forged a new metal that will make steel obsolete... but it is more expensive than gold.
  9. The royal family of Zhann are not mad--they are possessed by demons.
  10. Hunters near Larkspur have seen giants in the woods and hills.
  11. A clan of trolls is menacing travelers on the road between Middenwold and Westmarch. Merchants in both towns are offering a reward for killing or driving off the trolls.
  12. Some kind of strange dragon has taken up residence in an abandoned well in the ghettos of Ravensport.  It can predict your future but at a steep personal cost.
  13. In the last year, twelve albino horses have been born in Calabash.  
  14. A unicorn has moved into the forest southwest of Westmarch.  No hunter has found success there, as all of the animals are now under the unicorn's magical protection.
  15. The Lyndwyrm are getting brave again.  They have skirted the elves' defenses and made their way north into the mountains near Angrenskeep.  Dwarven caravans have been attacked, and a few destroyed outright.
  16. On several occasions, sailors and dock-workers in Daneth have seen a ghostly green ship sail past the harbor at midnight, accompanied by a freezing wind carrying tormented voices.
  17. An herbalist in Emerald has perfected a permanent love potion.
  18. The trees in northern Idyllann have become conscious and speak with the elves who live there.
  19. In the hills east of Larkspur, a powerful sorcerer is conducting black experiments on bodies robbed from the local cemetery.
  20. A princess from an exotic kingdom has landed in Kelora.  Her ships carry rare and valuable spices and cloth.
  21. There is an elf maiden in Meliann whose songs can literally heal the diseased and raise the dead.
  22. The legendary elven sword Fehlaforath is kept by a terrible dragon in a pyramid at the center of the Serpentwood.
  23. There is an olive-skinned, foreign merchant traveling the Alliance coast.  He claims to have bottled death itself.
  24. An abandoned keep north of Larkspur is haunted by the ghosts of three sisters who died there.  They will freeze the blood of any who sleep in the castle or under its shadow.
  25. The sewers beneath Baidensrook are filled with snakes large enough to swallow horses whole.
  26. On the forest road to Lynd, a spirit has appeared to travelers.  It appears as a beautiful elf maiden engulfed in white flames.  She seems to be screaming, but makes no sound.
  27. Someone in Ravensport has spent the last year hiring adventurers to track down and recover ancient tomes and scrolls, paying outrageous sums for the work.  The collector, Malak Eth,  is served by two immortal guardsmen.  
  28. There is an underground spring in the far northwest of the Isle.  It feeds a pool that will resurrect any dead creature whose body is immersed.  The caves in which it lies are guarded by immortal sorceresses. 
  29. A half-sunken city waits on a hidden island somewhere northeast of Evenoria.  It is ruled by a decadent and obscenely wealthy clan of aquatic vampires served by fish-men.
  30. A cult worshipping Typhus prowls the slums of Ravensport, stealing children from their cribs for an unknown purpose.  The watch turns a blind eye because the children come from poor families. 
  31. Dwarves have been driven from the deepest mines of Angrenskeep by black, oily, formless creatures that may be darkness itself incarnate.
  32. Patrons of the Wilderland Inn, a waypoint on the road from Middenwold to Hardinsford, claim that a witch has put a curse upon the establishment causing its beer to stale, its bread to mold, and its milk to curdle.  Eerie noises and strange presences have been heard and felt in the upstairs rooms.
  33. Strange forms in gray cloaks prowl the woods southwest of the Kingdom of Zhann.  They leave no prints and can disappear at will.
  34. A giant metal orb suddenly appeared in the middle of a blackened, blasted swath of the Plains of Drannon three weeks ago.  The orb is some 300 yards in diameter and covered in sliding, rattling, interlocked plates and tracks.  It hums and throbs with a deep, rumbling voice. 
  35. There's a wizard in Ravensport who's hiring adventurers to hunt and capture Lyndwyrm for use in magical experimentations.  He pays well but is quite insane. 
  36. There is a mire in the southern Plains of Drannon where the dreams of those who pass through literally come to life.
  37. The White Queen, Givre, plans to capture the Winter Stag in order to create a permanent winter in Evenoria.
  38. Elven warriors are massing along the borders of Idyllann, even allowing themselves to be seen by travelers in the area.  
  39. Castle Exitium, southwest of Ravensport, is a sprawling estate owned by the Perseun family.  None of the heirs of that house have ever lived there for more than a month without being driven out by some unseen, malevolent force.  Dannin Perseun, the latest heir, is willing to pay handsomely for the exorcism of the evil.
  40. Calabash and Hardinsford have been plagued by packs of wolf-men.
  41. A self-described Witch Queen has taken up residence in an ancient temple north of Ravensport.  She has somehow managed to destroy a newly-built fortress and a couple of small villages.
  42. An enormous creature recently stepped on and smashed a guard tower outside of Emerald.
  43. Unseen for the last hundred years, redcaps (a kind of goblin) are massing again and threatening the settlements along the border between the Kingdom of Zhann and Idyllann.
  44. An ancient ex-adventurer named Gileon seeks a party to investigate mysterious lights which appear in the mountains west of Ravensport.
  45. An master mariner named Sabeatr seeks a party to slay the Leviathan of the Sea of Kelos and retrieve a vial of its blood.
  46. A priest named Olysion seeks a party to recover the weapon Fell Destiny from the trolls of the northern reaches.
  47. A merchant named Pomenich seeks a party to discover the fate of a caravan of exotic goods lost near the port of Emerald.
  48. The master of the Ravensport Scribes Guild has been murdered by a red-robed assassin.
  49. The old monastery on Cyrtla Hill, near Daneth, is haunted by ghosts.
  50. The Queen of Zhann is dying of an incurable affliction.
  51. A magical fountain which grants titanic strength lies somewhere near the elven city of Quelann.
  52. A company of adventurers has accidentally awakened an ancient horror in a lakeside cave near Middenwold.
  53. Magic is altered in strange ways in the forest near the elf city of Lynd.
  54. A swarm of giant centipedes lurks in the sewers and tunnels beneath Ravensport.
  55. A trained snake has been stealing scrolls and documents from mages in Ravensport.
